Solar Energy Systems – A Solution To The Changing World

Solar Energy Systems – A Solution To The Changing World

Article by James Watt

The world is changing and we can see the changes clearly in the weather. A large part of the change, which is not beneficial, comes from the harmful carbon emissions caused by the energy resources. European Union is leading in using alternative energy to produce electricity and meets its energy needs for a cleaner and greener place to live. In the United States of America, Massachusetts leads in the consumption of solar energy. Solar energy is the purest and the most sustainable form of energy. This is the reason why solar energy systems MA is catching up fast and more and more people are moving from using conventional resources to greener energy source.

In fact solar energy has been exploited by humans since ancient times using a wide range of technologies. These technologies contributed to solving one of world’s most important problems in today’s times. Setting up the solar energy is as simple as it sounds. It constitutes of a solar panel with cells. You can install these cells very easily without much effort. It allows you to generate the required amount of current for the existing users. When the residential community grows or the size of the business increases, then there is good scope to increase the production. All you need to do is add additional cells to the solar panel. It is very efficient in contrast to the conventional method where excess power is generated anticipating that a need might arise.

The solar energy systems MA are one of the very advanced solar technologies which are beneficial to one and all. In spite of all the benefits, this is why there haven’t been too many users. The world has witnessed that there has always been resistance to any kind of change. There is always an apprehension prevailing in the minds of the people before trying out something new. Forgoing traditional methods and adopting new ones is a bigger challenge. No wonder the state government of Massachusetts is providing a lot of benefits and incentive to attract the residents and businesses to adopt this power generation methodology. If you install solar equipment, then you will have the opportunity to forget about you sales tax and property tax for the next twenty years. You may also be entitled to a state rebate program based on factors like your income, your hoe value, size of the system, and the like.

Every resident and business consumes electricity and one cannot imagine life without it. The ever increasing costs have become responsible for increased stress levels in people. Neither can you predict the prices hikes nor can you save yourself from making those payments. There can be nothing better than Solar Energy Systems MA for efficient use of energy and cut down on the costs.

Renewable Energy

Renewable Energy

Article by melanie Cath

Renewable energy is energy sourced from products or places that are renewable. We see this in solar powered water heating, for instance. Solar power is renewable because the sun shines almost every day in many countries. Wind energy is another source of renewable energy because wind is freely available and renews itself daily. Of course, the problem with both is the times when there is no sun or wind. However wind power, particularly is widely used in Europe and the US.

Solar power comes in several forms, from the small garden lights that are solar powered to the larger screens we have on our roofs to help our water heat up. However, the world

Alternative Energy Streams – An Overview

Alternative Energy Streams – An Overview

Article by Owen Jones

It looks like serious efforts to find the best alternative energy sources are being made by lots of countries as well as the USA and even many of America’s cities. One proof is the signing of the Kyoto Treaty, the foremost aim of which is to lessen greenhouse gases and pollutants.

Sustainable energy sources have proven to be of excellent help in reducing the amount of toxins, which are largely by-products of the use of fossil fuels. Sustainable sources also conserve the natural resources that people use as sources of energy. What are the most popular streams of sustainable energy? Here’s a list to give you a rudimentary knowledge of the matter.

1. Solar Power. This works by exploiting the sun’s rays to charge solar power batteries. The process converts the light coming from the sun into electricity. When the sun’s rays hit solar thermal panels, the power is then used to heat air or water. The sun’s rays can also hit parabolic mirrors. This process can produce steam by heating water. But you don’t need all these scientific processes to be able to profit from solar power. All you have to do is open the windows and blinds of your room to let the sunshine in. You’ll get an instant heater without having to use any processes for the conversion of this energy source.

To date, the main disadvantage of using solar energy was that it is restricted. You cannot use it at nighttime or during days when it is raining or even cloudy. This has been partly improved through the use of solar power stations. But they are so expensive that there aren’t many about.

2. Wind Power. The energy in the wind turns the fans of wind turbines to create electricity. Electricity is created through the use of an electrical generator. In the old days, windmills were built so that machinery could take the place of human physical labor. This included the pumping of water and the crushing of grain which were essential to farming.

Now there are large scale wind farms that make electricity. The end product is then dispersed through the national grids and small systems owned by private individuals to deliver electricity to far-flung areas and homes. There are many benefits to this kind of power. The main one, of course, is that it doesn’t create any by-products detrimental to the environment. And we will never run out of this source of renewable energy.

3. Geothermal Energy. This comes from underground. Holes are drilled in key locations and the hot rocks beneath make steam. This is then purified to be used to drive turbines. The latter then become a power source for electric generators.

To make sure that no harmful by-products are produced in the procedure, geothermal plants must be designed carefully, but once they have been set up, they are self-sufficient in creating energy.

4. Hydroelectric Energy. This power is generated through the use of dams that hold back water to drive generators and water turbines. Tidal power can also be employed if a dam is not suitable. The idea here is to make use of the kinetic energy of water.

If you read through the available alternative energy sources, you will be astounded at how nature can work wonders. It is your duty to preserve everything around you.

The Environment and Solar Energy

The Environment and Solar Energy

Article by Robert Fogarty

The world we live in is changing – we are more concerned about the environment and the deleting fossil fuel reserves. We are worried about greenhouse gases and how the generation of electricity plays a role in the creation of these gases. We are concerned that the cost of electricity will continue to skyrocket in the same out of control pattern we have seen in the last ten years. All of this and yet only a small percentage of people are turning to solar energy.

Solar energy has a lot to offer. In fact, it’s a win-win all the way around. First of all by turning to solar energy you can do your part towards a greener healthier planet. Second of all you can save tons of money. After the installation of your home solar system you will have no monthly hydro costs. Third, you become independent. There will be no more being forced to rely on what the power provider offers or what they want to charge.

Solar energy is readily available, easy to tap into, and affordable to invest in. With so many positives surrounding it, why aren’t more people jumping on board and installing solar panels so they can take advantage of the solar energy?

Over time more and more people are likely to show an interest in solar energy. However, at this point, it is still largely misunderstood. Many believe it is far more complicated than it is to install solar panels. Some believe they will not be able to generate enough power to support their households. What they don’t know is that they could stay on the grid while at the same time using solar panels to access solar energy. In this manner, they could reduce their electrical bills somewhat while still ensuring they have adequate power available to their home.

You can have solar panels installed professionally, or you can take on the task yourself. If you decide to undertake the project yourself you will want to do the math to determine what your power usage is. You will then need to determine if you can install adequate panels on your home and property to support your needs. Next, you will want to research the various solar panels that are available, their output, their warranty, etc. to determine which panels will be best for you.

If you are at all handy, you might consider building your own solar panels. You may be surprised to learn they are not that complicated to build and they will cost you a fraction of the price that pre-fab solar panels cost. It pays to look at all your option so that you get that most from value for your dollars, and so that you are confident with your choices.

Why not invest in your future by investing in solar energy. If you care about the planet and you like the idea of having additional disposable earnings, then why wait another day before you investigate how solar energy can benefit you? You’ll be glad you did!

DIY Solar Energy for Everyone

DIY Solar Energy for Everyone

Article by Jeff D McQueen

The Do It Yourself solar energy is becoming popular due to the constantly increasing prices of fossil fuel. These increasing prices have been a major concern for many homeowners for years. The alarming increase in electricity bill is just one of the many actual manifestations of this concern. Well, if you share the same problem, then it is high time that you consider using an alternative source of energy.

Energy sources basically come in two types, the renewable and the non renewable sources of energy. The effort to lessen the use of non renewable energy has remarkably gained strength during the past years. In fact there are many projects of all sizes being made in all parts of the world. Some of these non renewable sources of energy include wind power, solar power, geothermal, and nuclear power. The more famous and very viable project, however, is the DIY solar-energy. Solar energy uses solar panels. The solar panel receives energy from the sun which then converts the heat to electrical energy. This electrical energy is then used to run machines and other home devices.

Using DIY solar energy will give you countless advantages. First of all, it is economical. Since the cost of commercially available solar panels is very expensive, doing your own solar panels will give you a lot of savings. The average cost of materials you will be using would be around 0 compared to at least a thousand dollars for commercial ones.

Moreover, the solar panels do not really need close monitoring. It requires low maintenance installation. Probably cleaning the surface area of the solar panels regularly would be the only maintenance work for you. Just make sure though that maximum surface area is constantly exposed to the sun for greater efficiency.

Since sunlight is free of charge, the energy that you generate from the panels will also be free of charge. This simply means that your electric bill would surely be less. Yes, the initial investment in installing your solar panels might be expensive but the return of investment will be fast. And in the long run it will generate savings.

Aside from the savings that you will surely enjoy, you will also appreciate the good things that the solar energy brings. You must be very familiar about the bad effects of burning fossil fuel. The world is currently suffering from global warming that could eventually result to a serious climate change. This global warming was primarily attributed to the carbon emission produced by burning fossil fuel. The power plants are one of the largest sources of this carbon emission. Using solar energy would help to lessen the use of fossil fuel.

If you care for the environment then you should also support and implement DIY solar energy.

Will Micro Turbines Be The Next Wave of Energy Producers?

Will Micro Turbines Be The Next Wave of Energy Producers?

Article by Hess Marten

One of the great things about the current trend in energy production is the change from top-down to bottom-up thinking and innovation. This is actually a replay of how energy was produced before the industrial revolution and the invention of the power grid. Back then, energy was produced locally, often from a water wheel, but in some parts of the world from wind energy as well. With the advent of the power grid, electricity is often produced miles away at a hydro station or coal burning plant, then run along cables until it eventually reaches a local distribution center where it branches out into our homes and factories and offices.

Now with more and more homeowners looking to alternative solutions such as solar, wind, and even small scale hydroelectric energy, the initiative is switching back to locally produced power. In some regions, entire towns are banding together to raise funds for wind turbines that can allow them to be free of the grid — and its cost.

Along with this renewed bottom-up thinking is a reassessment of existing energy systems. In the late 19th century and into the first half of the 20th century, mega-engineering was the philosophy of the day. Huge projects like the Hoover dam were conceived and executed with little understanding as to the ultimate cost that would be born by such an undertaking. Technical marvels, yes, but today we can see the legacy of these mega projects in much of what has gone wrong in our modern world.

Though environmentalism has tempered much of that mega-engineering philosophy, ironically it is in the area of alternative energy production that we are still seeing that kind of thinking. Huge solar and wind farm projects, massive bio-fuel farming projects, and even tidal barriers are what gets most of our attention. But what about a little bottom-up thinking in the area of home energy production? Many homeowners are already there, simply by being concerned about bills and their own energy use, looking for solutions that they can implement right now.

Solar energy already has a major leg-up, simply because the technology is accessible and relatively inexpensive. Wind turbines, however, are still mostly left to the area of mega-project. It is possible, however, for a number of micro turbines to provide enough energy to at least off-set energy consumption in a home, and reduce energy costs substantially. Many of these small turbines can be purchased at hardware stores and the like, and are easy to connect to an inverter to provide instant power for direct sources.

Though governments continue to be enthralled with the idea of mega wind farms — and there is a demand for them — we could see in the near future a real proliferation of micro turbines sprouting in every yard and on every rooftop. Already some corporations are taking the lead and installing turbines on their roofs. Think of all that space up in the skyline of any major city, with a fairly steady wind stream flowing through, and as yet no turbines there to capture the energy. All that will change as the bottom-up revolution takes hold and more and more homeowners and business owners see the need to take energy matters into their own hands.
